Eurograde Safe Ratings
What is a Eurograde Safe?
When investing in a luxury safe, the Eurograde rating is one of the most important factors to consider.
Eurograde is the recognised European security standard for high-security safes, independently tested under the EN 1143-1 certification. Every certified safe is subjected to rigorous attack testing using specialist burglary tools before being awarded a security grade.
The higher the Eurograde, the greater the resistance to forced entry and the higher the level of insurance cover typically available for your valuables.
At Lymara, every safe in our collection is built to independently certified Eurograde standards, ensuring your most valuable possessions are protected by security you can trust.
Why Does Eurograde Matter?
A Eurograde rating doesn't simply indicate how strong a safe is—it also provides an insurance benchmark for the value of cash and valuables that can typically be stored inside.
As a general guide:
-
Cash ratings refer to physical cash stored within the safe.
-
Jewellery, watches and other valuables are typically insured at up to 10 times the cash rating.
-
Insurance limits ultimately remain at the discretion of your insurer, so you should always confirm your individual cover.

Frequently Asked Questions
Are Eurograde safes independently tested?
Yes. Every Eurograde certified safe is independently tested to EN 1143-1 standards by approved testing bodies before it can receive its certification.
Does a higher Eurograde mean better protection?
Yes. As the grade increases, the safe must demonstrate greater resistance to forced attack using increasingly sophisticated methods and tools.
Will my insurance automatically cover the full rating?
Not necessarily. Eurograde ratings are recognised insurance benchmarks, but individual insurers may have their own conditions and requirements. Always check with your insurer before relying on a particular cover limit.
Do Eurograde safes need to be professionally installed?
Most Eurograde safes under 1,000kg must be correctly anchored to a suitable floor in accordance with the manufacturer's instructions for their certification to remain valid.
